Praxis and Foundations of Reading

To ensure accurate record-keeping and timely processing of your scores, please provide your Praxis Test Taker ID (Candidate Number) and TCH Number (ALSDE ID). Without this information, we will be unable to process your scores, which may cause a delay in processing your application.

General Praxis Information

• Praxis Testing Requirements
  Information on the Praxis testing requirements for the state of Alabama can be found at   Passing scores are required prior to internship.  Deadlines to submit passing scores are November 1st for spring internship or July 1st for fall internship.

  A list of Praxis exams and scores required for each major offered at UNA can be found on the ETS website at  
  • Alternative Class A GPA exception
    *Note: Not detailed on the ETS site are the alternate score requirements related to the exception for Alternative Class A students' unconditional admission with undergraduate GPA's lower than 2.5. This exception is detailed in Item 1 of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) memorandum issued on April 17th, 2019. More information about alternate score requirements for Alt A students who qualify for the exception of unconditional admission noted above can be found by contacting our Certification Officer, Sarah Beth Hester, at 256-765-4860, or by email at shester3@una.edu. 
• Fee Waivers
  You may be eligible for a fee waiver. If you qualify for a fee waiver, the test fees for one Praxis Subject Assessment may be waived. For more information, visit the following link:

Praxis Subject Assessments

• Educator Preparation candidates must pass all Praxis Subject Assessments required for their area of certification  before student internship.
• Go to   and for information regarding test preparation and to view study materials.
• To register for a Praxis Subject Assessment exam, go to   or call Praxis Series Customer Service: 1-800-772-9476.

• Score reports must be sent to UNA ( Code 1735) and to the Alabama State Department of Education ( Code 7020) directly from ETS.

• Please make sure you register using the exact name on your Driver's License.
